Testimonial excerpts from some of our fit campers
Bobby Johnson 24 Jun 2010:
"My daughter Caroline told me that a couple of her friends (Becky and Ellen) were going to do this fitnes boot camp thing and she was too. So I decided to also. I had developed diabetes a few years prior. I had always been in good physical condition prior to the diabets. At the start of the program I was very weak. My legs were aching and I had no endurance. At the inital test my metabolic age was 52yrs. at the end my metabolic age was 39yrs. I feel stronger and have so much more energy."
In "'Skinny' G's" own words :
"A few years back I got so busy being the Super at the MEO office and running the We Care Team that I neglected my workouts. As a result, I ballooned up to 208lbs. When I got my line number for Master, something came over me, and I just felt as if I had to look like I did when I first arrived at Dyess. Well, as you can see, it worked. I kept the weight off... until 2008.
From 2006 - 2008 I was hit with THREE sets of PCS orders - ALL to locations that did not have adequate facilities for my son, who is mildly autistic. The third set of orders was the straw that Broke the camels back, and I signed the retirement paperwork.. As of March 2008, after 21 1/2 years of active duty, I [reluctantly] became a civilian... and I became depressed. Gone were my aspirations of becoming a Chief, gone were my dreams of becoming a First Sergeant... And when I took a job at a car dealership, gone [almost] was the Dyess We Care Team! Although Mr. Dunnahoo was gracious enough to give me time off to keep organizing projects, the 8 - 7 hours of the dealership and the hours it took to keep the We Care Team alive was almost killing me. In short, everything I found so dear, found joy in was slipping away. I've always said I have two ways of handling stress: I either WORK OUT or I PIG OUT. Well, you all can SEE what I chose. :(
So, to cut to the chase... I needed more time, so... I took a job that I liked, and I'm working 20 hours a week. Yea, quite a cut in pay... but, money can't buy happiness and it sure can't buy HEALTH! So, it's just like Patty LaBell said, with the new job, "I got a new attitude"! Bottom line, if I did it before, I can (and WILL) do it again! AND SO CAN YOU!!!! Just remember, NOTHING taste as good as being FIT FEELS!!! I'm talking from experience!"

"...Everyone I believe through the dynamics of this fantastic camp has overcome so many self battles or struggles. It is the strength of all of us working as one listening, pushing and assisting...So again to all of you thank you for helping me achieve such a goal that I would have never been able to attain alone...To me again all of you are guiders on a path that I have been very happy to follow."

"I just wanted to say thank you to each and everyone for your continual support and encouragement at Fit Camp. Today I weighed in and the numbers have changed! I can't begin to tell you the victory I felt, I really felt like the "Biggest Loser" today!!! I know it's all in due part because of all of you. I couldn't have done it without you nor would I have wanted to. I finally feel like I finally have a healthy perspective on weight loss and fitness. Thank you so much Mica & Kris for everything. No more crash diets for me, no more starving. It's all about "Eating Clean". Many thanks again to each of you!!"
